Sunday Evening ServiceJuly 2008
This is a quiet time with usually two Communions a month and is a lovely way to end the day, but I often hear people say they don't attend this service because in the winter they don't like going home in the dark and have now got out of the habit of attending. If this is you, then can I say that if you could have a word with me or Joanne, we will arrange transport home for you. The same goes for any evening service. All Joanne and I need is a little notice. We are hoping for volunteer drivers to come forward so we can draw on you when needed. It would be a great shame for anyone to miss this service for want of a lift. - Barbara |

Calling all Men!!July 2008
We are trying to put a bit of pace into the development of the 'Men's Group' (do we need another name for this? (if so suggestions also welcome!)). On Friday 20th June seven of us had a good time at Old Trafford despite Lancashire's defeat at the hands of rivals Yorkshire and we had a breakfast meeting on the 19th July. Looking forward, we were impressed by how many children at the Father's Day service told us their dads were great at football - so impressed that we wonder whether we could put a 5-A-Side team together. Chris is onto this one and is looking for at least 8 young, able bodied, fit and talented men to bring glory to the name of St. Mary's (??) though he will probably be prepared to relax the entry criteria somwhat once he gets deperate!! -Eddie |

Our congratulations go to Eddie who was ordained as priest at Manchester Cathedral on 28th June, and presided at his first service of Holy Communion on Sunday 29th June at St Mary's. Please do pray for Eddie, Joanne and Mark as Eddie continues in his new full-time role in the parish. |
