Alpha

Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening setting over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions, with a day or weekend away. It is low-key, friendly and fun - and is supported by all the main Christian denominations. Why not take this opportunity to explore the meaning of life?

Alpha at St. Mary's

St. Mary's runs the Alpha Course once or twice a year and all are welcome. Here are some comments from people who have recently done an Alpha course at St. Mary's.

'I debated whether to come to the Alpha courses. I didn't really think I would get a great deal out of it. How wrong I was! What amazed me was how many of us, who on the outside come across as "good Christians" are in fact doubting ourselves. I, although I have been attending one church or another all my life, felt confused about my faith. I now know for certain the Lord loves me because I am me. I pray and talk to God more and take great comfort from this. My faith is all the stronger because of Alpha.'

'Even though I wanted to go on the Alpha course, I realise now I didn't fully understand what it was all going to be about. What I can tell you now after going to Alpha after these weeks is that I found the whole experience, and It's an experience (not just a course you go on for a few weeks) a life changing one - in ways I didn't think was possible.
